SYRIZA demurred on the plans of the AEK FC’s stadium in Nea Philadelphia, during Tuesday’s discussion at the Parliamentary Committee of Production and Trade, raising objections. During Yannis Sgouros’ tenure as Attica district governor, 20 million euros were dispensed for the construction of AEK’s new stadium. SYRIZA MP Vangelis Apostolou parallel the construction plans to the scandalous construction of “The Mall” project, arguing further that the stadium’s current plans would create a slippery slope setting a dangerous precedent for park and forest lands to be seized for construction of sports facilities.
