Alec Peters and Giorgos Tsoulis behind Piraeus’ latest culinary arrival

Brand new (barely a month old), perched right on Mikrolimano’s waterfront, Twenty Five offers a view of the sea and the colorful fishing boats bobbing in the harbor. The name pays homage to Alec Peters—yes, the Olympiacos basketball player—whose jersey number inspired the name. The restaurant is a collaboration with the exceptionally talented chef Giorgos Tsoulis. After three years of feeling the love from Greek fans, the American athlete decided to give something back by opening this restaurant in Piraeus.

"Care" is the word that defines this place, and you feel it even before you see the menu. From the open kitchen with its custom-made parrilla (a special grill for meat), to the cozy dining room in earthy tones and the warm, attentive service—you genuinely feel like a guest in a welcoming, homely space.

Twenty Five is a fine comfort restaurant that focuses on premium meat cuts and some truly original recipes. Giorgos Tsoulis has created a menu bursting with flavor. Where to begin? Definitely with the emblematic Mac n’ Cheese: short pasta with kavourmas (a type of cured meat), burnt onion emulsion, and cheddar custard, served like… ice cream! Then there are the incredible eggs & potatoes, which might sound ordinary but are anything but—served with parmesan vinaigrette, egg yolk gel, brisket, fried egg mayo, and fresh spring truffle. It’s already one of the menu’s best sellers. If you're into carpaccio, don’t miss the “burnt” beef carpaccio with parmesan vinaigrette and arugula—a simple yet majestic dish.
