Mid season autumn sales commence

The 10-day mid-season autumn sales period has raised the curtains this weekend amid mixed reactions and protests against the opening of stores on Sundays called by the Federation of Private Employees (OIYE).
Deputy Development Minister Gerasimos Giakoumatos is expected to announce today changes to the rules on sales and discounts.
Meanwhile, according to a survey conducted by the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE) on businesses' shutdown, scheduled for release next week, the situation in the market is still stagnant.
In a statement, ESEE president Vassilis Korkidis expressed his surprise over the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) decision to appeal to the Council of State regarding the opening of the stores on Sundays and called on them to withdraw their motion.
