The Court of Audit has decided upon the seven million euro grant, approved by the Attica Region authority under the previous regional governor Yiannis Sgouros for the refurbish of the Panathinaikos FC stadium at Alexandras Avenue, to be illegal and therefore void. After examining the agreement, the court concluded it was contrary to the public interest and also violating the principle of cost-efficiency given that the new stadium for Panathinaikos in the Votanikos district is due to be built within five years.
