Free Guided Tours at Historic Sites in Athens This March — See the Full Programme

The City of Athens is once again offering free guided tours throughout March at historical and archaeological sites, museums, as well as cultural and art venues across the capital. Residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to discover Athens through themed walking tours and organised visits, held in collaboration with the Association of Licensed Tourist Guides of Athens. The initiative is led by Artemis Skoumpourdi, City Councillor responsible for the Historical Promotion of the City of Athens.

The programme features guided tours at emblematic archaeological sites such as the Ancient Agora and Aristotle’s Lyceum, walking tours through the historic centre and the hills surrounding the Acropolis, as well as themed routes dedicated to Byzantine, Ottoman and modern Athens.

Guided visits are also scheduled at major museums across the city, including the Benaki Museum, the National Gallery, the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST), the Numismatic Museum and the Alekos Fassianos Museum. The programme further includes specialised thematic tours focusing on architecture, philosophy and street art, along with historical lectures. Each tour has specific dates, times and meeting points, with a limited number of participants per activity. To secure a place, interested participants are asked to call +30 6976897493, Monday to Friday, between 11:00 and 15:00. While the guided tours are offered free of charge, admission fees to museums and archaeological sites, where applicable, are the responsibility of participants.
